Meet Terms, a new feature in your AI Knowledge Base that helps your team (and your AI) stay aligned on the exact words that do, or don’t, belong in your content.
Terms is your go-to list for approved phrasing, flagged words, and subtle, but important, preferences like platform over tool. Whether you’re guiding a new team member writing content manually, or prompting Frase’s AI, Terms helps ensure that your brand’s language feels consistent, confident, and human.
One source of truth for key terms
Terms joins Brand Voice, and Reference Docs, as part of your AI Knowledge Base—a growing set of governance tools designed to make Frase write like one of your team. Together, they help you:
- Lock in tone and voice
- Ensure content reflects your style and internal know-how
- Avoid editing cycles caused by inconsistent or “AI-sounding” language
With Terms, you can now go a step further by guiding specific word choices that matter to your brand.
How it works
Using Terms is easy and powerful:
- Click Add Term
- Enter the word or phrase you want to define
- Choose your rule:
- Approved
- Don’t use
- Use carefully
- Add a description or examples (these are optional but can be helpful, especially for accounts with multiple team members)
- Apply tags to keep everything organized and searchable
You can apply all terms to your content projects or select certain groups of terms according to their tag.
Once added, Frase will:
- Avoid “don’t use” terms in AI-generated content
- Flag those terms in manually written content
- Help guide your team to the right language
To apply your terms in a document, click into the ‘Governance’ module on the top right of the content editor, click the settings toggle, and then select which terms you want to apply to the document (you can select individual categories by their tag, or simply select all).
Frase will then check for any violations and flag them in the Governance module making it easier than ever to enforce preferred content terms.
Why it matters
Words carry your brand’s personality. And in a world of fast content production, especially with AI, it’s easy for off-brand terms to slip in.
Maybe you’re a B2B SaaS brand that prefers platform over tool. Or you want to ban buzzwords like cutting-edge or leverage. Terms makes sure everyone (AI included) gets the message.
